10. TIME-LAPSE MOVIE 

We moved a European-owned logistics client from their old site to a large new warehouse near Auckland Airport.  What was a bit unusual is not only did they want their old camera systems re-locate, and a whole lot more cameras added.  They also wanted a time-lapse movie of the fit-out of the new warehouse. 

Luckily the system we'd installed handled that no problem at all.  We were able to produce the movie, complete with music sound-track, as it covered about 6 weeks of construction and fit out.

9. THE COPPER THIEVES

A large primary produce processor in Otahuhu moved into their shiny new factory premises and needed a camera system in asap to protect the new site.  They were right to worry too, because within a few days of some new refrigeration plant being installed, thieves broke in and stole all the copper they could get their hands on.  Electrical wiring, piping - all gone from one of the plants on the exterior of the building! 

8. STAFF MEMBER STEALING THOUSANDS

Another processor in the food industry used our cameras to apprehend, and dismiss, a couple of staff thieves.  These people had been treated really well by my client, who'd gone out of his way to help them and their family.  Unfortunately that didn't stop them pinching product over a long enough period of time for the damage to add up to tens of thousands in lost profit. With the security camera footage as evidence, the dismissal and recovery of some of the losses was straightforward.

7. FOREIGN HACKERS TRYING TO ATTACK A CCTV SYSTEM

Commercial security cameras are, unfortunately, of considerable interest to cyber-criminals. One of our systems is able to track such attacks and when we analysed it over a 9 month period we were amazed at a few things.  Unfortunately, despite that system being more hardened than most against attack, some of these attacks resulted in them logging into cameras.  (We've since developed ways to completely separate the CCTV from the client's network.) The other fun stuff was looking at the countries the attacks originated from.  Basically Russia, China, Europe ( East and West ) and dear ol' USA. Of all these, one country's attackers stood out as the only ones to successfully login.

6. AUCKLAND HARBOUR BRIDGE BUNGY

One of the more unusual ones we did, but a great example of the versatility of commercial security cameras.  Sometimes you simply must be able to see what's going on in your business! I sure don't envy anyone who has to work in that environment though - cold and windy and out of the sun - not for me.

5. WHAT THE BODY CORPORATE SAW!

Several of our clients run large scale accommodation operations and boy do their cameras pay for themselves!

It turns out that trucks regularly crash into the corners of buildings and having audio on these security cameras adds to the quality and evidentiary value of the footage! One tenant even mistook the brake from the accelerator and demolished the garage roller door with their car. Of course violence and dishonesty offences are all too regularly caught on film and the NZ Police have a pretty easy system now for us to upload clips to.

4. HIGH TECH FACTORY MONITORING

A reminder that not al commercial security cameras are for security. We've installed in at least two sites where innovative housing modules were being constructed in a modern factory. Sometimes these cameras are just the thing because of their 24/7  reliability and robustness.

3. EXPLOSIVE SITUATION

What could possibly go wrong at a rural manufacturer of high explosives? Thankfully nothing, and in hindsight it was probably the safest site we ever installed at!

2. ACCIDENT CAPTURE

Fortunately not a fatal one, but within a couple of days of installing commercial security cameras at a North Shore manufacturer, a nasty accident played out on camera.  There is simply no other more valuable tool for sorting out what actually happened when injury accidents happen. In this case a clear breach of procedure, which could've been much worse, was evident on the high resolution cameras.
